In ancient times, people did not have such an abundance of cosmetics as they do now. But every woman even then wanted to look beautiful and attractive. For this, simple products that are always at hand were used. Thanks to their actions, these recipes have survived to our times, which once again underlines their effectiveness. This also applies to dry mustard.

What is dry mustard and where can I buy it

Mustard is a spicy herb used in cooking, medicine and cosmetics. Mustard leaves are harvested, thoroughly dried and ground to form a mustard powder. You can buy it in supermarkets and pharmacies. He is very affordable. If you don’t find it in powder form, then in extreme cases you can buy ordinary packaging of mustard plasters and extract the mustard from their cells.

The mechanism of action of mustard powder on hair

Due to its warming, drying and stimulating properties, mustard:

  • accelerates hair growth;
  • increases hair volume due to the effect on additional hair follicles, from which hair subsequently grows;
  • reduces the production of sebum, which is especially ideal for oily hair;
  • has antibacterial action (do not forget that mustard is a natural antibiotic), so it can be used to treat dandruff and seborrhea;
  • strengthens hair.

Contraindications for use

Despite its healing properties, mustard, like any other product, has contraindications.

Cannot be applied if:

  • there is an allergic reaction to this product;
  • with increased skin sensitivity (before use, it is necessary to do an allergic reaction test, the recipe of which is written below);
  • with dry seborrhea;
  • if the hair breaks a lot;
  • if the smell of mustard is unbearable for you.

In any case, before use, it is necessary to do a sensitivity test to this product, which is done as follows: mustard is diluted with warm water in equal parts and applied to the inner bend of the elbow, or behind the ears and wait 15 minutes. Then rinse with warm water. If after this time there is no redness (the skin can only be pinkish) or discomfort in the form of itching or pain, then dry mustard can be safely used in your own home cosmetology.
