Gelatin hair mask

Beautiful and well-groomed hair decorates and completes the image, attracting the attention of others. How to make them healthy and shiny at home. A fairly effective way is a gelatin hair mask. Its properties are similar to lamination. But unlike the latter, it is not so long and tedious, and also more budgetary.

Gelatin is an animal product obtained by processing animal bones. It is based on protein collagen, as well as other trace elements. But it is protein that contributes to the nutrition of hair, skin and nails. How does a gelatin mask work? When applied, gelatin envelops the hair with the thinnest film, nourishes and saturates it with useful microelements. Gelatin masks give not only a visible result, but also treat and restore hair.

The result of such a mask is amazing – the hair becomes thickened and shiny, less electrified. In addition, the protective film protects the hair from the thermal effects of the hair dryer. This mask is suitable for all types of hair, and its regular use only consolidates the result.

Let’s give an example of the standard and simplest gelatin hair mask. We will need one tablespoon of regular gelatin, which can be purchased at any store, and three tablespoons of hot water. Pour gelatin with water and mix thoroughly until it is completely dissolved. Leave for 15 minutes for the gelatin to swell. Now we warm up the mask in a water bath and add the last component – 1 tablespoon of shampoo or balm, we need them to make it easier to apply the mask to the hair. Let the mask cool. It is similar in texture to sour cream. For long hair, the ingredients can be increased by keeping the ratio 1:3, that is, one tablespoon of gelatin to three tablespoons of water.

Next, wash your hair with shampoo, dry it a little to remove excess moisture and apply a gelatin mask to the entire length of the hair, trying not to affect the scalp. Then we cover the hair with polyethylene, and wrap it with a towel on top. For the best effect, you can warm the hair with a hairdryer, as the heat allows the useful elements to penetrate deeper. Keep for 30-40 minutes. After that, we rinse well and thoroughly, washing out the gelatin completely, otherwise the result will be the opposite, and we will get glued hair. The gelatin mask is washed off easily, like any purchased mask from the store. The result is smooth, shiny and silky hair.

Several other ingredients can be added to this basic recipe to increase its effectiveness.

So, for example, you can add a couple of drops of aroma oil to the mask. For hair growth and strengthening – rosemary, ylang-ylang, lavender oil. For hair shine, lemon aroma oils are suitable. And if we want to get rid of dandruff, then a couple of drops of equilipt or tea tree aroma oil can be added to the mask.

Here is an option for the possible use of aroma oils in a mask. We use the same proportions – 1 tablespoon of gelatin, 3 tablespoons of water and add 0.5 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to them. We stir everything, put it in a water bath and add 3-4 drops of any essential oil, apply it to the hair.

In addition to aromatic oils, you can use base oils. Coconut oil has the ability to strengthen and soften hair. Burdock oil can be used to get rid of dandruff. Almond oil is used against split ends and brittle hair. We use the basic recipe and add to it, depending on the type of hair, 1 teaspoon of oil for dry and normal hair, 0.5 teaspoon of oil for oily. Melt in a water bath and apply to hair, keep on hair for no more than 30 minutes.

An excellent option would be to use decoctions of herbs. For example, a decoction of chamomile flowers (suitable for fair hair), a decoction of nettle, burdock or horsetail. Mix the broth with gelatin and add a little shampoo. Here you can also add a tablespoon of honey, the use of which, as you know, prevents dryness and hair loss. This option, among other things, promotes hair growth and improves their structure.

The next recipe is a gelatin mask with an egg. We use the basic recipe that we reviewed above and add one egg yolk to it, put it in a water bath, then mix it, no matter what lumps remain and apply it to the hair. Egg yolk will add softness and shine and provide extra nutrition.

Another effective mask option is the use of gelatin and juice. We take 3 tablespoons of lemon juice and dilute gelatin in it. Leave for 15 minutes to swell, and then warm in a water bath, let cool slightly and apply to wet hair.

It would seem that everything, but in addition to the gelatin mask, you can use gelatin-based shampoo. It is used, like any other shampoo, in the first place, in order to wash the hair. It also has a healing effect. In this recipe, all components are indicated for one application. You will need one tablespoon of any shampoo and one teaspoon of gelatin. We mix everything and leave for 15-20 minutes for the gelatin to swell. Apply to hair, lather and leave for a couple of minutes. Well, after washing off, like any other shampoo.

You can apply such masks 1-2 times a week for normal and dry hair and 1 time per week for oily hair.

Use any of the above masks and you will get a magical result – well-groomed and shiny hair.
