How to choose a washing gel?

Washing gel (wash) is a cleanser that has a special composition that does not dry the skin, does not cause irritation and redness, and is generally safe for everyday care.

The purpose of such a tool is a high-quality cleansing of the epidermis from sebum, decorative cosmetics, dust and dirt. Question: how to choose a face wash always remains relevant, because you need to know which ingredients are aggressive and harm the skin.

Why do you need a gel cleanser

Since the condition of the skin is an indicator of health, it is very important to choose the right cleanser. All cleansing gels contain surfactants (surfactants), which remove harmful impurities and contaminants from the surface of the epidermis very efficiently. They penetrate deep into the pores and deliver beneficial ingredients there.

However, depending on the composition of the cleanser, the lipid barrier of the epidermis is destroyed, which is fraught with irritation, peeling and redness. To prevent this from happening, you need to choose the right washbasin.

The composition of modern cleansing compositions includes natural oils, vitamins, active biological substances, antibacterial ingredients, extracts of medicinal plants. Such a tool not only cleanses the epidermis, but also cares for it: moisturizes, nourishes and protects. With the right choice of wash, the skin becomes well-groomed and elastic, elastic and velvety, does not dry out and does not peel off.

Many women do not properly care for their face, because they are not familiar with the principles of proper care. They choose low-quality drugs, with poor composition and high alcohol content, wash themselves with hot water and toilet soap, which contains a lot of alkali.

Such a drug causes great harm to the epidermis and it turns out that we worsen our appearance with our own hands. It is important to choose not an expensive product of a popular brand, but suitable for your skin type. Currently, all cleansing preparations are made taking into account different types of tone.

Let’s name the main qualities of a modern cleanser:

  1. Washing gel is a soft and delicate product that does not contain aggressive substances that violate the lipid barrier of the epidermis. Such a tool, cleansing, cares for the skin, does not cause irritation, dryness and dehydration.
  2. Also, the cleanser can be selected according to the type of skin and depending on the existing problems. For example, a product for oily skin will control sebum production by constantly clearing the pores of it.
  3. There are cleansing gels that effectively dissolve comedones and fight acne. There are also washbasins that moisturize the skin and preserve its water supply system. These drugs purposefully eliminate existing problems.

What should not be in a cleanser?

As mentioned above, many cleansers contain aggressive ingredients that greatly dry out the skin. The epidermis, being its outer layer, in a healthy state, must retain and retain moisture inside the skin. It is a barrier of cells glued together with lipids, which will prevent the evaporation of moisture from its surface.

However, aggressive products in the composition of the wash dissolve not only sebum, decorative cosmetics and pollution, but also these very lipids. Thus, the lipid layer of the epidermis is disturbed, and it remains unprotected from the harmful effects of the environment. In this case, moisture evaporates, since the epidermis is not able to keep it inside. This process is called transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

When moisture loss occurs, the skin becomes:

  • dry and dehydrated;
  • irritation and peeling appear on it;
  • he blushes and shrinks;
  • flabbiness and small wrinkles are observed.

In addition, various infections, bacteria and microorganisms penetrate the damaged lipid barrier into the skin, and the washers themselves cause the development of an allergic reaction on the face. And most importantly, the deceit lies in the fact that all these dysfunctional symptoms do not appear in stasis, but after some time. This is confusing because it is difficult to understand what caused the annoyance.

In this case, as a rule, they sin on a moisturizing or nourishing cream, emulsion, serum and other preparations. This leads to the fact that more and more new cosmetic compositions are purchased, instead of just changing the washbasin.

Let’s find out which components have the above effect and should not be contained in a good cleanser.

  • Surfactants (surfactants) are anionic. They are very aggressive substances. Therefore, their presence is undesirable in the composition of the cleansing composition. The abbreviation of this ingredient on the package is labeled as follows:
    • sodium laureth sulfate (sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS));
    • myreth sodium sulfate – (sodium Myreth Sulfate (SMS));
    • sodium lauryl sulfate – (sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)).

These drugs are often used even by well-known brands that are trying to save on healthy and soft components.

  • Petrochemical products – mineral oil (mineral Oil). Mineral oil moisturizes and softens the skin very well, and after washing, there is a feeling that the skin has become soft and velvety. What is the harm of such a product? The fact that such a drug is a product of oil refining and, despite its softening effect, imperceptibly clogs the ducts of the sebaceous glands, which leads to the formation of comedones and acne.

What beneficial ingredients should be included in cleansers?

The composition of soft and caring for the skin preparations should include:

  • Soft surfactants (surfactants). Soft pavas include:
    • coco – glucoside (glucoside – coco-Glucoside);
    • cocamidopropyl betaine (cocamidopropyl Betaine);
    • coco-betaine (soco-Betain);
    • caprylyl / capryl glucoside – (carpylyl / spryl glucoside).

These substances gently and delicately cleanse the epidermis without overdrying or irritating it. They do not violate the lipid barrier and do not contribute to moisture loss.

  • Lactic, salicylic, glycolic acids. Their presence is especially important for owners of oily and combination skin. Acids have a good exfoliating effect, cleanse pores, eliminate excess sebum, and prevent the formation of comedones. On the packaging they are labeled as:
    • lactic acid – (lactic acid);
    • salicylic acid – (salicylic fcid);
    • glycolic acid – (glycolic acid).

Peelings based on these acids are very helpful in refreshing the skin and improving its color.

  • Natural oils. They are added to the wash to soften, improve the firmness and elasticity of the epidermis.
  • Extracts of medicinal plants. Medicinal plants fight inflammation present on the skin. For example, an extract of aloe, chamomile, nasturtium not only cleanses, but also has a healing anti-inflammatory effect. However, very often…
