Ozone therapy in cosmetology

Treatment with ozone (ozone therapy) has long been used in medicine: in gynecology, surgery, dermatology. And at the end of the last century (approximately in the 70s), ozone treatment methods began to be quite successfully used in cosmetology.

Ozone has unique properties: it eliminates toxins from the body, destroys bacteria, and improves the circulation of the circulatory system. It is these beneficial qualities of ozone that are used for cosmetic purposes.

There are several types of ozone therapy according to the method of introducing ozone into the body:

  • autohemotherapy (blood is taken from a patient from a vein, mixed with ozone and injected intravenously),
  • rectal ozone therapy (enemas with ozone),
  • droppers with ozonized compounds,
  • treatment with ozonated olive oil,
  • subcutaneous injection of ozone.

The first three types refer to general ozone therapy that affects the body as a whole, the last two are local ozone therapy that affects a specific part of the body. In cosmetology, local ozone therapy is mainly used. Local ozone therapy is used to improve overall skin tone, improve complexion, and reduce wrinkles. Ozone is also used to treat acne, normalize the functioning of the sebaceous glands. In the treatment of obesity, as well as to reduce the manifestations of cellulite in areas of accumulation of subcutaneous fat, subcutaneous injections of ozone again come to the rescue.

Ozone, injected subcutaneously, has an effect on the cellular level, splitting of adipose tissue occurs, the skin tightens and becomes elastic, cellulite disappears, and puffiness disappears. The rate of metabolic processes in the body increases, and the blood is saturated with oxygen. The introduction of ozone with this method occurs in problem areas under the skin using a syringe with a very thin needle or using more modern medical equipment multi-injectors (with several needles).

The required number of ozone therapy sessions, as well as their frequency, is determined by the doctor; on average, it is necessary to conduct five to ten sessions lasting from five to forty-five minutes (depending on the condition of the problem area), two to three sessions per week. But already after three or four procedures, a visible positive effect is noted.

Ozonated olive oil is used in cosmetology in the form of masks, as well as for body wraps and massages. Despite the fact that the use of ozone in this method is external, it has a beneficial effect, penetrating into the upper layers of the skin and increasing the rate of metabolic processes in them. In ozone therapy, facial compresses are made with ozonized oil or oil is applied to the skin of the face and massage is performed.

Procedures contribute to the elimination of wrinkles and edema, improves complexion. Body massage is most often used for visible signs of cellulite, the so-called “orange peel”. After several sessions, the manifestations of cellulite decrease, the elasticity of the skin returns, it acquires smoothness and a healthy color. By the way, ozonized oil can be used at home, which is an absolute plus of this method.

Unfortunately, ozone therapy has its drawbacks. Firstly, this method has contraindications, such as some blood diseases, thyroid diseases, and others. Therefore, before carrying out ozone therapy, you need to consult a doctor. Also, alcohol should not be taken during treatment with ozone. The second disadvantage of the method is its pain (when administered subcutaneously), however, the pain disappears after a few minutes after the procedure. And the last disadvantage is the cost of ozone therapy, but the effect achieved is worth the expensive treatment.

Ozone therapy sessions are offered both by medical clinics and various beauty salons. Massages, body wraps or masks with ozonized oil can be done in the salon, but the subcutaneous injection of ozone should only be done by a health worker on the instructions of a certified doctor or the doctor himself. This will reduce the risk of insufficient sterility, a poorly performed procedure and, as a result, undesirable consequences of treatment.
