Rose Water Recipes

Store-bought roses are not suitable for making rose water due to the use of special solutions and pesticides for long-term storage. Therefore, if you want to make a quality product, you should collect petals from roses grown in your own garden or borrowed from the garden of friends and relatives.

It is best to collect petals from fragrant bushes in the morning, in dry weather, when you decide to prepare rose water. After that, all the petals must be carefully checked and the damaged ones removed.

Next, you need to move the mass of petals into a large saucepan and fill them with water so that the liquid slightly covers the top layer of rose petals. Then just cover with a lid, put on the stove and turn on the fire.

As soon as signs of boiling appear, it is worth lowering the heat and waiting until the petals fade. This could happen within an hour, possibly more. After that, pour the water into another bowl, strain the petals and squeeze them out.

That’s it! It remains only to pour the prepared rose water into bottles and cork so that no excess air enters. It should be stored in a cold and dark place where the water will keep all its properties and a great smell for a long time.

Immediately pour the water prepared according to one of these recipes into a sterilized bottle in advance, cork tightly. You need to store the hydrosol in the refrigerator or in another cool dark place, preferably in a glass container. With such storage, home-made rose water perfectly retains not only the smell, but also its beneficial properties throughout the year.
